FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we hear most, on technical, installation, commercial and security topics. If yours isn't here, get in touch.

Technical

How does Onlock work?+

Administrators define an access point for each door, locker or turnstile in the panel, and a QR code is generated for that point. The QR is posted at the physical point. The user scans it with the Onlock mobile app; if they are authorised, the command goes from the server to the main controller and the lock opens.

Do I need cards, fobs or reader hardware?+

No. Onlock is entirely QR-based. All the user needs is a phone; there is no reader hardware at the door. Every piece of electronics sits in the panel, which lowers installation cost and simplifies maintenance.

What happens if the internet goes down?+

The access decision comes from the server, so there is no offline access at device level. Organisations that need to run independently of the internet can have the system installed on their own local server (on-premise).

Which lock and entry types are supported?+

Any point driven by a 12V trigger or a dry contact: electric strikes (fail-safe/fail-secure), magnetic locks, sliding doors, turnstiles, garage doors and electronic locker locks. Where a dry contact is required, a relay is used inside the panel.

Will it work with my existing turnstile or door?+

Most likely yes. It is compatible with any system that can be opened by a dry contact or a 12V trigger. We assess your existing infrastructure during the site survey.

How many locks can I manage?+

A single ON-X main controller chains up to 10 ON-LINK-12 or ON-LINK-48 units behind it. With more than one controller there is no practical limit. For single entry points, ON-S + ON-LINK-1 is used.

Can I see whether a door is open or closed?+

The hardware has a door status sensor input (optional). It is not used in a standard installation, but it can be enabled when needed.

How far can the cabling run?+

Runs of roughly 100 metres to the lock points are supported with 4×0.22 mm cable.

Installation

Who does the installation?+

The Onlock team handles installation and initial configuration. Device definitions, the location hierarchy and the access points are all set up before handover; you take over a working system. From there you manage your own users and rules.

What infrastructure does the installation need?+

A mounting panel, power and a network connection. For cloud management, your IT team needs to assign the device a static external IP/port (with port forwarding); we plan that together before installation.

How long does installation take?+

It depends on the size of the site and the number of points. After the site survey we share a firm installation plan and timeline.

Can I manage several locations from one place?+

Yes. The Onlock dashboard supports multi-site operations: a location → area → device → access point hierarchy puts every site in one panel.

What if I want to expand the system?+

Onlock is modular. You grow the system by adding lock control units to the chain, with no need to change the architecture you already have.

Commercial

How is it priced?+

Every installation is different, so pricing comes as a quote prepared for your site. Send us your requirements through the contact form and we will share a firm quote after the site survey.

Can I try the system before buying?+

We arrange a demo for you. Request one through the form or any of our contact channels.

Are hardware and software priced separately?+

The system consists of hardware (controllers and lock control units), a software licence and the installation service. The quote lists each of these separately.

Can I integrate Onlock with my own software?+

Yes. Licensed API access lets you drive the devices from your own application and connect Onlock to your HR, booking or membership systems.

Where is the mobile app?+

It is on the App Store and Google Play as "Onlock: Erişim Yönetimi". End users scan to enter, invite guests, book resources and receive notifications from there.

Security & Data

Where is my data stored?+

There are two options: Onlock Cloud (standard SaaS) or an on-premise install on your own server. Where control of the data comes first, on-premise is the choice.

What if a QR code gets copied?+

Every scan is authorised on the server, so an unauthorised person scanning the code still does not open the door. QR codes can be revoked and reissued from the panel instantly.

Can I see who went where and when?+

Yes. Every passage is kept in the access log (who, which point, when, and the result) and can be watched live. Those records also drive a detailed Time & Attendance Control panel.

Can I grant temporary or conditional access?+

Yes. Permanent or time-limited access, day and hour restrictions and group-based permissions can all be defined. Guests can be given time-limited access.

Is it compliant with data protection law?+

Access records contain personal data, so the system is designed with Turkey's data protection law (KVKK) in mind. The on-premise option suits cases where the data has to stay inside the organisation.
